Academic/Post-graduate Centre

While the proposed services of the LRC will cater equally well to the learning requirements of both undergraduate and post-graduate students, a separate study or research area within the LRC is required for the users of post-graduate students and academic staff only.

This recognizes the different study behaviours of post-graduate students, and in particularly their need for a relatively long stay, quiet study environment. In addition, the establishment of specific cross-disciplinary post- graduate research facility in the LRC can act as a University "common room" - a place where post-graduate students and academic staff of different faculties can meet and exchange ideas as a part of the University's research community. The types of facilities required in the post-graduate research area mirror to some extent the facilities available generally through the LRC.
